Printing from Excel data source

Ed Randall

I am using Office 2003 and trying to print three of the With Compliments
cards at a time per 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. Using Publisher, this is
easy until I connect to the Excel data source. Once I connect to the Excel
data source Publisher will only print one With Compliments card per 8 1/2 by
11 sheet. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

Open the Task Pane and tell it multiple copies per sheet or when you get the
Print set-up dialog box, select change number of copies per sheet.

I could print 3 cards per 8 1/2 by 11 page before connecting to the Excel
data sheet. After connecting to Excel, Publisher will only print one card
per 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. Please clarify your answer.

Are you using Mail Merge to get your Excel info into your complements cards?

When you do a merge, you should have one card on your screen.
In page setup, select custom, input your card size and page orientation. If need be
change copies per sheet and adjust the margins and gaps to match your stock.

Mary, I did what you suggested and set Publisher to print 3 copies per
sheet. However instead of printing all 500 numbers from the Excel file, I
chose to print:

"Pages........From 1 to 1" to test first.

Publisher printed 3 copies on the one sheet but all numbers were identical.
Do I have to set Publisher to print "All" in order for it to print the
consecutive numbers or have I missed something?

In the print dialogue there is a test page select. On the right... Do that... If that
doesn't give you a better print, then your merge is not setup correctly.

I couldn't find "print test page " in the print dialogue box. I remember it
from an earlier version of Publisher but it's not there in my copy of 2003.
If the problem is in the merge can you think of a way to correct the merge?
It seems to me there were just some simple steps to follow.

I did do this same merge in an older version of Publisher. I can't image
what step I must have left out. (Thanks for helping).

I do believe you now! Sorry, I was looking at the print dialogue box AFTER I
had completed the merge. Thank you for the link.
