printing image problem

when inserting an image jpeg or otherwise onto a blank word 2003 page or
opening an existing word doc with images on the page looks fine on screen and
in print preview, however when printing it it prints two images in the same
area as the original one image. ie. the original image has been squashed to
50% but has inserted a duplicate image. Op sys is windows 2000. inserting and
printing clip art is fine, all other software printing is fine.

This is a very maddening problem; if you're getting only two images, you're
lucky. I sometimes get as many as six "stripes" of picture. The only
workaround that seems to work for just about everyone is to print directly
to the printer, eliminating spooling. This is a setting in the printer
Properties; the exact location and wording will vary depending on your
printer, so you'll just have to wander around until you find a check box
somewhere that talks about spooling.

Users at my workplace are having the same problem - why does this happen - is
it a glitch with Word 2003, it only seems to be happening since we upgraded
to 2003 from 2000.

I saw it in Word 2002 as well, I think. It seems to be an interaction
between Word and the printer, neither one entirely at fault (but I see it
with only one of my two printers).
