Hello,
I'm a long-time (as in >decade) Word user. Until recently, I've never had a
problem printing to a custom paper size, but I cannot get it to work
anymore. Here's the issue:
With my last printer, HP LaserJet IIIp, I had no problems.
With my current printer, a BrotherHL1650, I get the problem described
below...BUT...
With any other app, such as Acrobat, odd size pages print completely fine.
What is happening is this: Let's say I create a page OR envelope that is 4h
x 7w (landscape) -- really, any non-standard size -- when I print, the
output is in the correct place on the paper, but about 1.5 inches on the
right size is cut off! If I use print-preview, it even shows it cut off!
Also, and I'm sure this is a clue, *sometimes*, when I set the page size, it
then complains things are outside of the printable margins....but in reality
they are not outside what the printer can print. Also, if it's an envelope,
it doesn't complain about the margins, but the result is the same: cut off
at right.
If I take the same document, and create a PDF file from it, on the same
odd-sized "paper", then use Acrobat Reader (for example), to print it, it
prints out perfectly.
Why is Word thinking there is this huge (~1.5") unprintable area? And how
do I fix it? Brother says it's not a printer driver problem, and given that
all other apps seem fine, I have to say I agree with them.
I'm using Office2000, with all of the latest patches.
Any help would be appreciated....and if there is another forum better suited
for answering this, please point me into the right direction.
Thanks,
Frank Domina
