Printing problem

J

Julia

Hi

When I apply 'Resource Name Form' view, I am unable to print indiviual
Resource schedules.

Do you know how I can get a print out of the schedule?

Thanks in advance.

J

JulieS

Hi Julia,

The Resource Name Form is used as the lower part of a combination view
and is not printable. If you wish to get a list of assignments for a
resource you could print the To Do list Report or print a filtered view
from the Resource Usage View. Perhaps if you give us some additional
information about what you mean by a "print out of the schedule", we can
better advise.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi

The Resource Name Form has exactly the information I would like for each
Resource. The heading with the information I need are Project, ID, Task
Name, Work, Leveling Delay, Delay, Start, Finish. I want to print this
individually in this format for each Resource.

I just checked Resource Usage View - this is ok but I want to see just one
individual Resource's Start and Finish dates in a similar format to Resource
Name Form.

I also checked To Do Report - This is better but the ID column is 'messy',
as it shows "Week of 02 January" and on the next line "ID 2" and so on...
Can I amend the layout to fit more neater to the page?

Thank you

J

JulieS

Hi Julia,

My suggestion is to create a new table or modify the existing table
applied to the Resource Usage view. Add the additional columns that you
like: ID, Project, ID (again to see Assignment IDs), Name, Work,
Leveling Delay, Delay, Start, and Finish.

You can then collapse the assignments for the other resources under
their name. If you wish, you could then insert page breaks to force
each resource to their own page.

Modification of the To Do Report is a bit tougher, but again, you may
get close to what you want by using the Task Usage view, adding the
additional fields: Project, Leveling Delay, Delay and then use the Using
Resource... filter to display only information for specific resources.
Then print that view with only the left side visible.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Can you please let me know why you have advised ID again to see Assignment
ID's?

I have modified Resource Usage and added columns except that I am unable to
insert a 'Delay' column when attempting to Insert Column and then creating a
Text field allocating 'Delay' to it. When attempting this, the column was
empty.

Regarding modification of the To Do Report, I wasn't quite sure but are you
suggesting to use the Resource Usage (or Task Usage view) and add the
appropriate columns for the better results and layout?

The ID column which shows by default in the Resource Usage view as the
left most column (locked) is the Resource ID. You said earlier that you
wanted to see the IDs of the assignments as well. But inserting the ID
column into the Usage table you will be able to see the assignment IDs
as well.
I have modified Resource Usage and added columns except that I am
unable to insert a 'Delay' column when attempting to Insert Column and
then creating a Text field allocating 'Delay' to it. When attempting
this, the column was empty.

Try inserting the Assignment Delay field and the Leveling Delay field.
The Assignment delay field is the difference between the Task Start and
the Assignment Start. You may delay a Resource's assignment to a task
in a situation where you may wish one resource to start after another
Resource beings their work on a task. The Leveling Delay field is
usually populated if you delay assignments through the Resource Leveling
command. Once you have inserted the two fields, you can view Help
information by hovering your mouse over the column heading and choosing
the Help on [Field Name] hyperlink.
Regarding modification of the To Do Report, I wasn't quite sure but
are you > suggesting to use the Resource Usage (or Task Usage view)
and add the appropriate columns for the better results and layout?

Yes. The built in reports (such as the To-Do Report) are hard to modify
as you wanted. My suggestion about modification of the Resource Usage
or Task Usage view was in response to your comment about liking the
information available in the Resource Form.

Julia

Great thanks for your reply.

The left most column appears to be the 'Information' column and there are no
ID no.'s, just a blue 'Information' heading. Is this what you are refering
to?

I've inserted Levelling Delay field then Levelled 1 Resource and nothing has
populated the field, as mentioned. I'm not actually sure what the levelling
did. Is there a way to see what Project has done compared to what was there
before? The only thing I notice is that the Task Summary is not red
anymore.

Regarding Assignment Start, please can you let me know which field I can
enter the Assignment Start Date as it doesn't appear in Column Definition?

Kind regards.

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

are no ID no.'s, just a blue 'Information' heading. Is this what you
are refering to?

No, usually the left most field showing in the table is the ID field.
It is light gray in color because it is usually locked. (It looks like
the row numbers you may see in Excel.) The column to the right of the
ID column that you refer to is the Indicator column.
I've inserted Levelling Delay field then Levelled 1 Resource and
nothing has populated the field, as mentioned. I'm not actually sure
what the levelling did. Is there a way to see what Project has done

The Resource Leveling command will only delay tasks where a resource is
overallocated. If you had no overallocated resources, it is possible
that the command didn't do anything. To view tasks that are delayed,
take a look at the Leveling Gantt. The green bars indicate where the
task was scheduled prior to leveling, the blue bars show where the task
is now. If you chose to allow project to level individual assignments
on a task, the task may not have been leveled but the assignment for a
resource may have delay.
Regarding Assignment Start, please can you let me know which field I
can enter the Assignment Start Date as it doesn't appear in Column
Definition?

You will insert the Start field into the table. In the Resource Usage
View, the Start field added to the table (left side) shows both the date
the resource starts working in the project (in the row with the
resource's name). The assignment row (indented underneath the resource's
name) shows the assignment start date.

Generally, there is no need to enter the assignment start dates. They
are calculated by project based upon the start date of the task and the
resource's working calendar. Perhaps if you described further why you
want to enter assignment start dates I can assist further.
Kind regards.
