My computer runs on Windows XP. When I purchased it
(from Gateway) it came with Word, Excel, Publisher, and
Outlook, all versions 2002. I purchased (on Ebay) MS
Office 97 upgrade, because I needed Access, which I did
not already have. I received all the original materials
(box and all), as if I had purchased the software at the
store. I installed Office 97 (just Access), and did not
have a problem. Recently, I had to take my computer in
for a complete cleaning, I saved my important files to a
CD, but since I had the original install disks for all my
office products I didn't bother with saving those files.
When I got my computer back I was able to install all the
Office 2002 products without issue. However, when I went
to install 97 (to get Access), I received a message first
saying: "Upgrade Check - Hard Disk Search Failed". and
then a message that said "Setup has searched your hard
drive and cannot find any qualifying products..." Why,
if I do indeed have the qualifying Office products
required for the upgrade installed on my computer, and I
did not have this issue before, am I running into this
problem now?
Your help is appreciated.
