Problem changing header

I've been trying to change the header midway through a documnent i
Word '97. I think I'm following the required procedure, but it's no
working.

Here's what I've done. I created a page break on the page before th
page where I want to make the header change. I then put the cursor o
the next page and go to the header toolbard to click on "same a
previous", as per the instructions, but this area greyed out.
Everything else on the toolbar is fine, except for this one button. I
I go on to make the change in the header, the change is made throughou
the whole document from page one on.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Do

You need a Section break, not a page break. Headers are a Section property
so to change them, you need to be in a separate section. The Same as
previous is not enabled because in a one Section document, there is only the
one header of each type (First Page, Primary, Odd, Even), so there is no
previous one of that type to which you can create a link.

I should have said "section break", not page break. Sorry for th
confusion. I have had up to three section breaks between the sections
but the header will not change for the second section without changin
the first and the "Same as Previous"button on the toolbar is stil
greyed out. Thanks anyway. If anyone has any further suggestions
please let me know. Thanks again.
