Problem opening Web Pages IE 6.0 & XP (SP2) users

Hi,

I'm having problems with users with IE 6.0 and XP Service Pack 2, accessing
a web page generated by Visio 2003 (SP1). If they click on a hyperlink that
opens
a new page, they just get a blank screen, and the only soruce is the
open/close HTML tags. This isn't a problem with IE 6.0 and XP Service Pack 1.
Is there a setting within SP2 under IE that is preventing these pages from
loading? I've tried turning on/off various settings in IE (i.e. Active X,
Java, selecting
different page encodings, etc.), but nothing seems to make a difference.

Is there a fix or a work around out there for this?

XP-SP2 added the ability to block activex controls. Are they getting the
status line in the browser that warns against activex? The other point is
where are the hyperlinks pointing (i.e. a local directory)

Al,

There isn't any warnings of any kind. The shapes that I have multiple
hyperlinks for (drop down box appears), you see a quick drop down, and then
the page shifts to a blank white box. The shapes that i have a single
hyperlink for, the page opens in a new window (I set it up that way), but the
underlying page still opens to just a blank white box. The only thing you
see down in the status bar is a "#" character.
If I refresh the page, then it all comes back.

I checked my settings, and active-x controls are enabled.

Anything else I could check?

Hi Kim,

Try with the browser security settings (internet options, security) at the
default level, and check whether scripting is disabled in the browser.

Hi Dick,

Thanks for the response. I checked all of that, reset the browser settings
to defaults, and it everything seems to be setup correctly. Anything else
that I
could check? What type of scripting is generated by Vision? Is it Active-X,
or something else?

Hi Kim,

I'm not sure what else to check as the symptoms sound as though scripting is
disabled in some way, to cause the results which you're seeing. Are you
seeing this consistently with IE 6.0 and XP Service Pack 2 machines? The
Visio save as web page output is Microsoft Jscript.

Dick,

Every PC, either a fresh install, or an upgrade to SP2 has this issue.
I'll continue to look, but as far as I can tell, I have scripting enabled.

One question I do have, is if I had scripting disabled, would the page
even load? I get it to load every time (with the zoom, search, and
information windows) no problem. Everything works in the left pane
of the page just fine (even the flashing arrow comes up on a search).
But everytime I do something in the right pane, it comes back with
a blank screen, with a "#" sign in the status bar at the bottom of the
IE window.

Hi Kim,

If it's possible to send a sample drawing(s) which exhibit the behavior, to
investigate on this end, let me know with a direct email - remove "online"
from my email address here. thanks.
