Problem replying to or forwarding to recipients outside of Exchang

When people outside of our Domain/Exchange server send us email, I'm unable
to reply or forward back to them or others. When I reply, I get this message:
'The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart
Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall'. I have
re-installed and also performed a repair on Outlook. I'm using Outlook 2000
on XP. Any help would be great.

How is Internet mail being handled? Is Exchange handling it, or do you have
an Internet mail account in Outlook? Note that that isn't supported in
OL2000 - only 2002/2003.

If Exchange is handling all your Internet mail, you might be better off
posting in microsoft.public.exchange.clients - but mention your version of
Exchange and more detail.

The mail we receive isn't from Internet mail. It is from a customer that uses
Exchange or some other corporate email system. Let me add that this symptom
is isolated to just one recipient/Exchange client user.

If this isn't a sender on your server, but is from a customer, it's coming
in from the Internet, right? My question was whether you use Outlook to get
your Internet mail, or if Exchange is configured to handle your company's
mail (both internal and external).

Yes, the messages are coming in from the Internet. Exchange handles our email
and use Outlook as the client.

OK. Regarding the following statement:

"The only service installed in the mail profile is Exchange"

True or false?

OK. So, to isolate the problem:

1. Try this from OWA
2. Try logging into another workstation & using Outlook
3. Have someone else try logging into your workstation & using Outlook
