Problem unistalling Office XP-Pro w/FP

I cannot change/repair/uninstall Office XP Pro w/
Frontpage due to an error with the Installer program in
Win XP. I get the error "This patch package could not be
opened..." This is either due to a missing *.MPS file or
upgrade of the installer from 1.1 to 2.0 between patches,
or so says the Online update error page, but posses no
solution.

Can I modify a regestry entry to make windows think it
never installed Office? Or is there a more elegant
solution?

This utility works for WinXP eventhough it says it does
not work for Installer 2.0.
