I have an application based in Access 2000/2002. I recently added the
ability to generate email from within the application, by using the
CreateItem method of the Outlook Application object to create an
email.
The problem: whenever a user creates an email from within this
application and drops an attachment on it, the attachment dosen't
reach the destination. The mailitem in the "Sent Item" folder has the
attachments. But the attachments don't arrive or recipients are not
able to open them.
My format email option was set to RichText and to convert to plain
text if sending to internet. I switched to format in plain text,
however, the problem still exists. (and our emails don't look as
sharp)
If I send an email with attachment to a yahoo account the attachments
arrive as normal.
If I send an email to an aol account, the attatchments show up as a
DAT file.
I am now getting many emails from my contacts saying that the email
didn't have an attachment. None of these use aol or yahoo, either
corporate email accounts or from their local ISPs.
If I close the Access application that had created the instance of
Outlook and then open Outlook from its icon, send the same attachment
to the same address, the attachments arrive in the aol account in a
zip file. They arrive on computers with outlook as normal
attachments. And the people who said the prior attachment didn't
arrive, well now they arrive.
Why won't email created from the Outlook Application object, properly
send attachments?? Is there some property that I need to set when
creating or sending the mailitem?
Thank you for your insights.
