Problem with populated field displaying

Using Word 2002 SP-2

SCENARIO:
Print Layout View active
File saved as a template.
Document NOT protected
No header on page 1.
- At top of page 1, in a table (cell 2), resides a
TextField, bookmarked (bookmark name: Field1), Calculate
on Exit is checked.
- Header which begins on page 2 contains a REF field
which refers to bookmarked Field1.

PROBLEM:
After form is completed, the header on page 2 and
subsequent pages appears NOT to have been populated with
the Field1 data and nothing displays. However, if I
execute a Print Preview, the populated field displays
correctly. Then, upon leaving Print Preview and returning
to the Print Layout View, the populated field in the
header displays.

QUESTION:
What can I do to cause the populated field to display its
contents without having to go into Print Preview?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

You'll need a macro to update fields. Perhaps an on-exit macro from one of
the fields? But I'm unclear how you're using form fields at all if the
document is not protected for forms.

FWIW, an easier way to put form text in a header is to format the form field
with a specific style (it can be a character style) and put a StyleRef field
in the header.
