Problem with response form (Publisher 2003)

P

Pam Jennelle

I am so thrilled that my website is finally online. But when I tested the
response form, I got a "page not found" message. I called GoDaddy (I
know...but I'm a TOTAL novice) and their tech guy was helpful but could not
solve the problem. He converted the page to "view code" and did not see a
"submit" command nor does the code tell the program to return the user to the
home page after submitting a response.

I will be very grateful for any assistance. I don't know if it's okay to
copy the code here so I will wait for a response. Thanks!

For your Publisher forms to work correctly, you must have the FrontPage
Server Extensions (FPSE) enabled and working on the host. You do not:

You must also use HTTP uploading protocol, and not FTP.

Reference: Publisher web publication forms 101:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/2006/01/07/80564.aspx
Read this and then go to your web host and activate the FPSE.

How to trouble-shoot Publisher web upload issues :

Prepare, publish, and maintain your Publisher Web site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA100947601033.aspx
It is written for Pub 2007, but if you are using IE7 instead of IE6, then
the directions for using Vista would apply.

FPSE are not installed on your webserver so the form will not work.

also...when you do get the extensions installed GoDaddy also has to allow
the email form handler to work AND many hosts do not allow the form handler
to send mail to a domain outside of your domain - currently you have your
email set to a hotmail account so it probably will not work.

THANK YOU! I was able to enable FPSE and am getting ready to re-upload.
GoDaddy tech said ftp should work so I'll try that, but if not I'll know my
next step. Thanks so much for the guidance.

THanks, Rob. GoDaddy says Hotmail is fine!

I really appreciate those of you who know what you're doing. Thank you so
much.

You are welcome, but don't use FTP uploading if you want the form to work.
Read the article about forms.
