Problems printing graphics

I inserted a small icon into a word document and when I tried to print the
icon/graphic would not show on the page. The copied words (from the same
place as the graphic) showed up fine. Anyone know why this happened. I put
the same graphics into a Powerpoint slide and was able to print that way.
