Hi,

when I close Outlook (no mattter how), Outlook remains inside the system
tray as non active symbol. double click does not work, right click does not
work. It is just there as a symbol.
When I want to reopen Outlook nothing fails except that a new outlook
process is shown inside the task manager. So I have to end the processes.
Then I can start Outlook but it tells me that the last time outlook was not
closed properly.

Do you have any idea how to fix this (detect an repair does not help)?

Do you have any 3rd party applications that sync or use outlook data? For
example, ActiveSync, WinFax, Word (when used as e-mail editor), and some
antivirus software is capable of keeping Outlook resident in memory.

Ok, I have:

Word as editor
Active Sync
and Antivirus

how can I find the one whos guilty?

Cheers and Thanks

Made some test

it is not Word, not ActiveSync and not the virusscanner.

Well I did not have the problem for all the time. And the only thing I
installed where the MS Security fixes.

Cheers

ActiveSync will be guilty when leaving the pda in the cradle and on.
(activesync starts a hidden instance)

Word tends to be guilty when word is left open and closing Outlook first.
(Word keeps a hidden instance running to keep the mail functionality quick.)

McAfee put out a bad update some months back that would keep Outlook
resident.
