Problems with IMAP account

I spoke to user yesterday who uses Entourage as his email client.
We're at a university and the user has an IMAP account. Everything
WAS working fine until, according to the user, he "clicked on
something." After this event, his new mail was no longer going to the
IMAP account inbox, but rather the Inbox under "Folders on this
computer." I have no idea why it did this. I looked and didn't find
any rules.

During a remote session, I deleted the IMAP account and recreated it.
This caused another problem in that all of the user's "Sent Mail" that
was on the mail server was moved to the "Trash" folder on the mail
server. The new mail is still being sent to the "Inbox" under
"Folders on this computer" AND a copy of the new email is sent to the
"Trash" folder on the mail server.

I have no idea what could possibly be causing Entourage to behave this
ways. I would appreciate ANY help that can be offered. Thank you.

There are special rules, called mailing list rules, which can be created by
marking a message (which Entourage has classified as junk) as "not junk".
Check Tools>Mailing List Manager, and you should see one or more rules in
there which are responsible for this unwanted behaviour. Disable or delete
them, and future messages should go into the inbox.
