Problems with Office shortcut bar

With Office v 2002, my shortcut toolbar has disappeared. I have tried
reparing in Add/remove programs with the installation CD, and reinstalling
that element but it still won't run. Clicking the Toolbar to open from Office
tools menu does not open it up. I have even tried a system restore wihtout
luck. Any ideas?

I had exactly the same experience (Office XP). The once reliable short cut
bar first stopped loading automatically but would load when I went to Office
Tools and clicked "shortcut bar" then eventually stopped coming up. I tried
removing and reinstalling Office but that didn't help. It seems like it
loads but might be hiding under the task bar at the bottom. Once I got it to
appear as a small rectangle that I couldn't maximize, then it retreated under
the task bar never to be seen again. Does anyone have a solution? What
could have changed?

Hi Jim,

The MS Office Shortcut bar, discontinued after Office XP, didn't always win the fight to 'be on top'. You can use Start=>Run and
type
MSOffice.exe
there to restart it and you may want to put a shortcut to that .exe file on your desktop to use when needed if it doesn't autostart.

Bob, Thanks for the reply. However, I just tried that and got an error msg.
"Windows cannot find MSOffice.exe However, from the Start/programs/MS Office
Tools/Shortcut bar, I click on that and something appears to load but it
never appears. Any other suggestions? Jim

Windows cannot find MSOffice.exe From Start/programs/MS Office
tools/shortcut bar, I used to be able to get it to load. As the problem
worsened I'd have to do this twice to bring it up. Now something appears to
happen but the shortcut bar never appears. Once it appeared as a compressed
rectangle but I couldn't get it to expand. After that it's completely
disappeared. Any other suggestions? Jim

Hi Jim,

If you use Start=>Search/Find and look for MSOffice.exe is it installed? You may need to to a repair of Office from the Microsoft
Office listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel after first checking the installed feature list there.
