Problen installing Office 2000 on XP

Windows XP has trouble installing Office 2000. Error
message "The system cannot read from the specified device"
comes up a few seconds after the Windows Installer box
appears and is preparing for installation. Gets no
further than this. CD drive is okay, can see files &
folders on Office 2000 CD and install other programs. CDs
work fine on other computers. Also, system has a new
freash install of XP.

Puzzled. Can anyone help?

Are you able to copy the files to a temp folder and install from there?
If not theres something wrong with the disk
