Producer for PowerPoint

I have PowerPoint 2000 and read an article about MS Producer. Will it work
with PowerPoint 2000?

The current Producer requires PowerPoint 2002/2003
(http://www.microsoft.com/office/powerpoint/producer/prodinfo/sysreq.mspx).

I believe there was a previous version of Producer (no longer available as
far as I know) . Don't know its requirements.
