Product Key does not work Office Home and Student 2007

H

HoustonMike

I purchased a copy of Office Home and Student from a retailer and tried
several times to type in the Product Key, which I located inside the case on
an orange sticker that says "Product Key".

The error message says The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the
correct key, and then retype it.

I retyped it several times, continued with the installation without it, and
then reattempmted to enter it afterwards several times.

Make sure that you have the "B" and "8" and "O" (capital o") and "0"
(zero) and the rest correct.

Genius! My "8" was really a "B".

Boy, do I feel stupid! But you saved my butt, and I am SO grateful. My 8 was
a b.

You are not the first and won't be the last to make that mistake. They need
to use a different font.

I have the same problem with MS Office Standard 2007...after moving m
app's to a new laptop. Entered the product key multiple times...stil
get "incorrect product code" error message. This advice from th
monitor is unhelpful...I have the original box and entered the produc
code exactly as is. I cannot uninstall and reinstall Outlook withou
danger of losing my <Outlook> contacts and files carried over to the ne
laptop via LapLink. How about some helpful (useful) forum advice

Uninstalling Outllook has no impact on its data, that being said a backup of
data is allways wise

Did you uninstall any preinstalled Trial together with its Activation
Assistant and rebooted, prior to installing your paid for version from
cd/dvd (or did you attempt to use Laplink to transfer programs?)

New post from original post author:

Yes, I transferred the applications via LapLink to my new (Win 7
computer. MC Office Standard 2007 (which I purchased NEW RETAIL) doe
not accept the original Product Key. This is not a typing issue. It i
clear what the Product Key is. On my old laptop (where MS Offic
Standard 2007 was originally installed, it was installed by
professional computer shop because, at the time, my laptop had bee
infected by some pretty bad malware and they had to cleanse the system.
Rather than reloading MS Office Pro 2002, I went out and bought M
Office Standard 2007 and had them load it onto the old but clea
laptop...this was 3 years ago...and the software has run fine sinc
then. The point is the shop may have done something irregular lik
loading another party's software; it's possible, I don't know). I d
have the original MS Office CD, box and product key; and they will no
work together. I need to get the key revalidated without having to par
the Red Sea. Where can an authentic user get authentic MS Softwar
revalidated...or a Product Key that will actually work??? The advice s
far on this board has not been helpful

I'll assume there was no Trial installed on your new Laptop - you didnt
mention whether there was or if you removed it
If you start Word, Options>Trust Centre what does it say with regard
version?

If you transfered via Laplink you will need to run Office Diagnostics to
repair your Office installation.

You are posting via a third party forum, you are not posting direct to the
MS Groups

Thanks for the advice. The problem was related to a trial package of M
Office software loaded on the new laptop. Once I removed the MS Offic
Trial software, was able to insert the original product key code, fo
the original Office software and it worked

I, too, purchased an MSOffice2007 student version. I installed it
successfully on my hp laptop, but now I want to install it on my new Gateway
laptop too. Do I have to uninstall the trial software first before I install
my student software? I keep getting that annoying "invalid product key"
message!!!!

You'll want to uninstall the trial version of Office AND the activation
assistant before trying to install your "real" version.
