Are you sure you are not trying to key in the WINDOWS key?

The product key affixed to your new computer is
for Windows Vista and not any Microsoft Office
software.

Apparently, you had a trial version of Microsoft Office installed. You'll
need to purchase a license for Microsoft Office in order
to continue the use of the program.
