I was asked by one of my customer to restructure an existing schedule.
Part of the restructuring involves adding some summary tasks under
which several already complete tasks will be indented.
Did what he wanted. The detail tasks are all 100% complete, as they
were before. The summary task, under which all these detail tasks are
indented, shows 0% completion. Can't manually change it in Task
Information for the summary task. Tried un-indenting the detail tasks
and re-indenting them. Summary task is still at 0% completion.
Un-indented the tasks and manually set what had been the summary task
to 100%. Then re-indented the tasks, and summary task completion goes
back to 0%.
Also, the start dates for the summary task are bogus and don't reflect
the earliest start date of any of the indented detail tasks, nor does
the finish date for the summary task reflect the latest finish date for
any of the indented detail tasks.
And of course the math for the duration isn't adding up. It's like the
task isn't really acting as a summary task, even though it's got detail
tasks indented underneath.
Argggg!!!
(Yes I realize that restructuring data for already completed tasks
isn't exactly the best thing to do, but I'm a lowly contractor doing
what I'm told....)
