Discovered Project2003 is missing ability to layout network diagram boxes
horizontally the way Project98 used to do.

ARRGGGG!

Are there any 3rd party apps that have a lot of options for laying out the
diagrams? I saw one call PERT Layout Expert, but it looks lame. I need one
with some power.

Try PERT Chart Expert from www.criticaltools.com. Definitely not lame.

In the Network diagram, via Format, Layout, check "Allow Manual Box
Positioning"

write me at (e-mail address removed) and I will send it to you. It works on
Project's Network Diagram and doesn't require an add-on or a data export.
