Project 2003 loads documents but fails to display them in any view

Hi,

When I run project 2003, it loads correctly and lets me select the file I
want to open. When I open any Project 2003 file, the progress bar runs all
the way to the end then "Ready" is displayed bottom left, but all the buttons
grey out and nothing is displayed. If I click a view, it briefly pauses then
displays ready again.

I've re-installed it, downloaded the latest updates and it still refuses to
work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

NevilleSFD,
Does this still occur if you create a new file from scratch? If a new
file displays OK then I suspect your existing files have corruption.
Since you will not be able to open those files you might try another PC
with Project loaded. If you are lucky and can get them open on another
PC, you should go to our MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
and take a look at FAQ 43 - File Bloat? Might be corruption. If you are
unable to open them on another PC, you may have to revert to an older
copy of the file and go from there.

By the way, are you in a Project Server environment? If so, there might
be some other things going on and you should post to our sister
newsgroup at: microsoft.public.project.server

Thanks John,

All the files work on any other pc, just mine has the problem. If I try to
create a new file, it loads a blank page, presents the toolbars and butons,
them goes grey and wont let me do anything. Im not in a server enviro, we are
just stand alone.

NevilleSFD,
It sounds like your installation of Project is corrupt. First you might
try running Detect and Repair under the Help menu. If you can't do that
or that doesn't help, I suggest you un-install Project and then
re-install. You might also want to do a virus, worm, etc. check on your
PC and run a disk utility application (e.g. Norton Utilities).
