Project 2003 not acknowledging customized work hours

I am having a problem with Project on my my local computer. If I try to
create new project file from my local computer, try to create a new project
file from an existing file, or try to migrate a schedule and apply a
customized calendar (9 hour work days)to it, it will not compute 9 hr days
for a resource. If I take an existing file from our network drive I have no
problems with the calculations. My collegues and I have tried everything we
know to do.

What are your settings in Tools > Options, Calendar tab for hours per
day?

What actually happens?

How are you inputing the work?

What precisely are the calendar settings?

Are any task calendars applied?

Hello Julie,

That was the problem. We were under the impression that by using our own
calendar to drive the schedule it would automatically update the work hours.
However, the default calendar was still set at a normal work week. Thanks for
your help!
