Project 2003 not working well after 2000 upgrade

Most of the people in one division of our company switched to Project 2003
(with the newest service pack 2) from Project 2000. The project manager still
uses 2000 due to the issue my question will address.
When he writes his projects, the other people can see the top (gantt chart)
view hence works fine although when when other people who have 2003 open up
the bottom part (task form) they cannot see anything at all. In
otherwords...it can be seen with 2000 but not 2003. I assume there must be
some kind of fix or patch or something to this for it to work in 2003 also.
Please help. Thanks.

Hi Gadget,

Sounds like you're using s server. Try posting on the server newsgroup.

OK, Gadget, we can rule out server problems. I admit to never hearing of
this problem before. However, the viewing of the panes in a split pane
window is under the control of the user. He should open the project and
select Window/Split, in which case the Gantt chart will show at the top and
the filtered details for the task selected should appear in the bottom.
What are they doing so that they can't split the window?

Hi Gadget,

When you say others open the task form in the bottom pane and see "nothing
at all" is it possible they have changed the format of the task form to
"Objects" or Notes? Try clicking in the Task form and choose Format >
Details and pick another format.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Mike although the window IS split already. The issue is that the DATA
in the task form that is seen in ver 2000 isn't being shown in ver 2003. Is
it a compatability issue from the upgrade? If so, is there a fix or a patch?
I already tried te service pack without success. Thanks.

Thanks julie, the format being changed wasn't really it but thanks anyway. I
explained more about it immediatly above to mike. I just tried something
though as an experiment, I resaved as type "project database" from project
2000 and reopened this data in 2003. Then I resaved it in 2003 format. Could
there potentially be a problem with this?

Hi Gadget,

No, there shouldn't be an issue with saving as a project database and
then reopening in Project 2003. As I recall there was some
recalculations that are done between Project 2000 files and Project 2003
files, but as long as you haven't changed the project db file you should
be fine.

Did the save as and reopen in Project 2003 fix the issue? Can you see
the data in the Project 2003 task Form?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Gadget,

This one stumps me :( I can only think there is some corruption in the
file. Are you sure you're not running this over a server, as it sounds like
the 2003 PCs are interrogationg the worng database? Try copying the file
onto a disk or memory stick and taking it physically to another PC - does it
then work?
