Project 2007 Crashes in Resource Usage View

F

Filipe Moreira

Hi to all,

I've been studying an implementation of MS Office Project Server 2007 within
my enterprise. The solution I'm working does not contemplate the use of
timesheets and status reports, and I want it just for planning projects and
for
communication between the resources assigned, the resources managers and the
projects managers. So, I used a Master Project with all the company's
projects, to allow me to see all the Resource Allocations.
The problem is that when I'm in a sub Project, expanding the "other projects
and commitments" in a resource, crashes the program. Also, in the Master
Project, if I don't expand previously all the subtasks of the sub Projects,
expanding the same field (other projects and commitments" in the Resource
Usage) also crashes MS Office Project 2007.

Thank you for you attention and hope that someone can give me an answer.... :)
Best Regards

Not sure you need to use a master project as you are using project server
2007. You can load all the projects as individual projects and then use the
resource views of project web access to see allocations across projects

Hi,

Thank you for your answer!
Yes, indeed it is true. I can see all the allocations in PWA.
But, when you need to see the allocations of 50 resources, of their hours in
detail, I don´t think it is pratical as the Resource Usage view. Unless, you
know some other view in PWA. If you do, and you don´t matter to tell me, I
would appreciate :)
I will also try to use a macro that rebuilds the master project everytime I
need, but without the option of the link to the project.
Nevertheless, I still don't understand why Project 2007 crashes.... :(

I guess I would try to set up my own view with detailed task information, or
I would use the resource availability view - you may want to pose the
question on the project server board as someone may have solved the problem
already. Regarding project crashing have you tried doing what you are with
just one or two linked projects - if that works then maybe it is a memory
issue.

I'm testing with 3 projects in the server, so it doesn´t appear to be a
memory problem.... Also, I've tried in 2 more computer and has always
crashed....
I'm trying to solve my problem now with a macro function....

Thank you for your answer...
Best regards
