Project crashing, .mpp Corrupt

T

tab5nrc

When attempting to open a specific .mpp file I receive this erro
message:

There was a problem opening this project last time, do you want t
attempt a repair?

If I choose yes or no for the repair I still get the same result after
which is another message saying:

This action will cause a scheduling conflict. Task 266 of XXX wit
status upd...'has a task constraint or is linked to a task that canno
move, and as a resultthe constraint or the link cannot be set.

You can, cancel
continue

No matter what I choose from here Project will crash and ask to send a
error report and will restart Project. If only does this for one .mpp
have no problem with others and I have tested this file on multiple PC
and on both Project 2003 and Project 2007. All office updates an
service packs have been installed. So it looks like to me that this fil
is corrupt somehow. Does anyone know how I can go about recovering thi
file? I had tried a Project file recover tool that I DLed after doing
google search but it said that there was nothing wrong with the file

Hi tab,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You could try opening a new file and then inserting this file into it. If
that works, save it and then you could try the suggestions in FAQ Item: 43.
Handling project file corruption and/or bloat.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address:http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
