Project Plan corrupted..can not open

Hi,
One of our PMs was adding a task to the Project Plan and
saved the plan.
Now, the plan can not be opened in MS Project Professional
2002. The Microsoft error dialog box comes up.
We can see the plan , Gantt chart in the Project Web
access and have realised that certain tasks have become
jumbled up (which seems to be the reason why the plan
can't be opened).
Could anyone let me know how this can be resolved.
