Project Priority in a Master Project

S

SimAndy

I have 4 large projects all included in a Master with shared Resource
Pool. To assign priorities does each sub-task in each project have to
be prioritised within the entire master or can I assign a priority to
each project such that Project A is top priority and then assign sub-
tasks relatively within each sub-project.

Let me try an illustrate as I re-read that and confused myself!!

Priority Master Project
900 Project A
700 Task 1
500 Task 2
300 Task 3
700 Project B
700 Task 1
500 Task 2
300 Task 3
500 Project C
700 Task 1
500 Task 2
300 Task 3

So do all Task 1's above carry even weight when being leveled at
Master Project level or does every task in Project A take precedence
over those in B and C due to B and C carrying lower priority in the
whole scheme of things?

Again thanks in advance for any help.

Hello SimAndy,

Project level priority over-rides task level priority. So, in your
example all Tasks in Project C (even Task 1) have a lower priority for
leveling purposes than all of the tasks in Project B -- even Task 3.

From help:
============================
There is no overlap of priorities between projects. For example, if
Project A has a priority of 500 and Project B a priority of 400, the
tasks within Project A will always have a higher priority for leveling
than those in Project B. So a priority 1000 task in Project B will have
a lower priority than a priority 0 task in Project A.

==========================

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
