Project Pro 2003 Cannot Login To Project Server 2003 using SSL

W

wimdg

I have a single computer setup running Project Server 2003 and Project pro 2003

When I have the Project website configured without SSL, I have no trouble logging into the project Server from Project Pro

However, when I require SSL on the Project Server website, Project Pro can no longer log in. When I check "View reponse", I see the server complains I am accessing the website via "http" instead of "https://" even though I have typed "https://servername/projectserver" in Project Pro

Please provide all steps and parameters to successfully login Project Pro 2003 to Project Server 2003 running over SSL

With Kind Regards

Wim,

Are you using a real certificate or did you just enable SSL (get a warning).
Because when using SSL without a certificate you will recieve the warning
which will cause problems connecting from projects to projectserver.
(because of the additional step between the connection)

Dear

I have both a certificate in IIS and require SSL. I do so by preparing
a certificate request in IIS and then rolling the certificate on
another computer with Certification Services in Windows Server 2003
EE. I can successfully import the certificate in IIS on the computer
running Project Server

Also, on the computer running Project Server I can login to and use
Project Web Access over SSL without any problem, both with Windows
Users and Project users

However, when I try to get Project Pro to login to this same IIS via
SSL, IIS insists Project Pro is connecting with http, rather than
https, even though I clearly entered https

Please provide all steps and parameters to successfully login Project
Pro 2003 to Project Server 2003 running over SSL

With Kind Regards

Wim,

As far as I know certificates can only be offered by a certificate
authority. If you create a certificate by windows you'll always get a
security Alert. Where you can continue by selecting yes based on the
question Do you want to proceed?.

This is blocking the ssl connection between projects pro and your
projectserver over https.

Or

Please keep in mind that it isn't possible to have more then one ssl
certificate on 1 ip. This is because the signal is encrypted and IIS cannot
read the hostheader.

Merijn
