Project Professional is not connecting...

Noor Alkhaldi

Alright, I'm not an expert on this, I was asked to install
and configure Project Server 2002 on a SQL Server, so I did
I did every thing written in the book! AD is up and
running, STS is also installed and running, configured the
appropriate users to logon to SQL, bla bla bla...
So far, it's working just fine, thing is, I have 12
computer, all of them can access the DB using Web-access,
I installed and configured Microsoft Project Professional
2002 on all 12 computer, when I try to connect using the
MSPP, 6 computer can connect to the server just fine, but
the other 6 can't, though, when I try to use the 'Test
Connection' button, the results says it was able to
connect...
It also displays this message:

Connection Failed:
SQL State: 0100
SQL Server Error: 1788
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [Named Pipes]
Connection Open
(Create file()).
Connection Failed:
SQL State: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 1788
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] Client unable to
establish connection

So far I searched the MS Knowledge Base for this error,
and didn't find anything, any one can help?

Noor:

Set your SQL server to use TCPIP instead of named pipes.
