Project Reporting (Baselines and Processes)

John

Each Monday, our management team gets a copy of the project portfolio. The
portfolio is simply a Project Center view showing information about the
project. One of the columns we use is the Baseline Finish column (since we
have our project managers use the baseline feature). However, what happens
when there is a scope change? The project manager could re-baseline over
Baseline0 and wipe out the previous baseline information. Or he/she could
save a new baseline (Baseline1 - Baseline10), but how do I pickup that newer
baseline on my report? If I have a column for Baseline Finish - Baseline10
Finish, my report becomes convoluted. Does anyone have a solution that they
would suggest? I'm looking for a variety of ideas if they're out there.

Thanks
John

Instead of copying the new baseline into one of the 10 baselines available,
first copy the current baseline into one of the 10 baselines, then
re-baseline the plan into baseline0, which will display in your report.

That is a good idea, I will attempt to fly that by a few people here and see
what they think.

How would I copy the current baseline? What columns do I need? Or is there
a function?

Thanks

Tools > Tracking > Save Baseline > Save Interim Plan.

The two drop-down boxes let you choose what you want to copy, and to where.

John,

the other way is to create a new version and name it "Baseline"

After project is approved, save "Baseline" version. Later changes are done
in "Published" version.

Anytime you can compare versions in Portfolio Analyzer/ PWA Project Center.
