Project server and Exchange server together?

Hello all, I was wondering if it is a bad idea to install Project Server and
Exchange Server on the same box? The workgroup is a small educational
faculty of about 10-15 people. I would build a typical contemporary
server-class machine.

The goal is to offer the familiarity of Outlook while having access to the
Gantt charts offered by project all within IE when the faculty is at home.

Thanks so much.

Best to post this question for discussion on
microsoft.public.project.pro_and_server.

My hunch: *probably* not a problem, and if it becomes a problem then
either debottleneck it (based on where bottleneck is but could put in
more memory, add 2nd LAN card, faster LAN if not already 100 mbs, etc.)
or build another machine to separate them. There are a lot of extra
costs associated with yet another machine. My hunch is based on the
guess that these people will not be heavy users of either Project or email.

Hi,

One point, you wanted the Gantt charts offered...

Project Server doesn't do any scheduling with Gantt charts. For this you
will still need Project Professional or Standard.

Oooh, sorry about posting to the wrong ng.

I'm betting on the same thing, all users are probably
very lightweight so I don't think I'd see any problems..
I wanted to ask in case there were known issues between
both server apps running together. thanks for the reply.

Read the documentation for SQL Server, Exchange, and Project Server very
carefully.

Will do... Hey Rod, thanks for that bit of info about the Gantt charts, that
is indeed important to me... I'll figure this out yet.
