Project server config - beginner question

Hi all,

i am a asp.net / C# Developer who recently was charged with setting up and
configuring project server. I know only the basics of project and need some
help.

So couple questions:

1) I set it up in enterprise mode. I read the admin guide and decided on
this because we have about 10 core members (who will be using project) we all
work on many different projects and i wanted a consistant calendar for all
projects. Now that its set up im having problems understanding the Global
Template and the fact that i cannot upload my projects because they dont
conform to the global template.
Was this the best approach?

2) Web access for my project server always crashes in the admin section when
trying to display anything in a dataGrid type list.

3) How do i modify the global template and what should i set in it to
properly allow a variety of projects to be added?

thanks in advance

Question no 2
If you use HP systems then go into Control Panel > Security Center do you
see a new choice called Credential Manager. If so uninstall it.I hope that
helps to deal with the .

Question no 3
You shold have "Save Enterprise Global and New Resource permission" in
Microsoft Project Server to modify enterprise global template

Checking out the enterprise global template
1. Open Microsoft Project Professional and connect to Microsoft Project
Server as a user with permission to modify the enterprise global template.
2. From the Tools menu->Enterprise Options->Open Enterprise Global.

I hope this helps

Thank you so much...

One more question if you dont mind.

Once i download the Global Template, what should i look at doing to it so
projects conform to it. I dont really understand what its for, i assume i
assign the resouces we have (full time employees, currenty type, standard
work week hours, etc) but is there anything else i will have to do to make
the projects able to post to the server.

also do you recommend this "enterprise" mode as opposed to non-enterprise
mode.

Thanks a lot you really helped!

The enterprise global template stores global settings like
calendar,Filters, currency settings,Toolbars and Menu Items etc that can be
applied to every enterprise project and this global settings can be updated
on the users machine by the global template when they connect Microsoft
Project to Microsoft Project Server:

To answer your second question if you wish to control these settings
centrally "yes"
enterprise mode is prefered. Please note that enterprise global template is
updated each time a user connects Microsoft Project to Microsoft Project
Server

Hope this helps

Hello.

I'm following up on MCMCOM's original posts. We are still experiencing the
problem with the subforms / views that say " loading " but never actually
continue loading. We are running an HP server, but we don't have the
security center installed.

Any other thoughts on resolution / causes for this problem?

Thanks lots.

Marcus.

Some more info....
Whenever i load a page with one of the forms i get an 'object/ module not
found' error.

oh, and we're still having problems with the global template. I can connect
to the project server, but the option to 'open enterprise global' is greyed
out. the only option available is 'restore enterprise global.'

Any help would be apreciated.

MarcusP,
You will probably get a better response if you post to our server
newsgroup (microsoft.public.project.server). This newsgroup is devoted
to questions/issues with the standalone installation of Project.
