Project Standard 2007 - Assign Resource Window Bug?

M

Mike Kleiman

When we use the Assign Resources window (alt-f10), it initially displays with
all resources selected. We deselect all but one resource and add units to
that resource. As soon as we click off that record (any other record), ALL
resources automatically become selected again. The big problem here is that
we'll have a single resource selected, add units and press the assign button
and it automatically selects all resources and then tries to assign them all
to the task. This results in an error window that states: "there is a problem
with this assignment. You cannot have the same resource assigned twice to the
same task, etc..". The task did not have any assignments when opening this
window and I only seleted and added units to one resource.

We just upgraded to 2007 and it's happening on all desktops.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Yes, I can confirm this does occur on several installations of MS
Project 2007 that I am familiar with. I believe it has been reported as
a bug to the folks at Microsoft.

I hope it will be corrected in the service pack that I am guessing
should be released relatively soon.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,
thanks for the reply. I need to provide a formal response to executive
management regarding the bug status. How do I verify that Microsoft has this
documented as a bug and has it scheduled to fix?

Thanks again.

Hello Mike,

Well as I do not work for Microsoft I'm afraid I cannot provide a
"formal response" nor speak for Microsoft in any capacity.

The connect site for Project 2007 does have a response from a Microsoft
responder acknowledging the bug you note. However, there is no comment
concerning whether this is on the list for fixes in service pack 1. See
the URL below for the thread/comment from Microsoft:

https://www.connect.microsoft.com/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=266916&SiteID=235

Other than the link above, the best I can recommend would be to go
through any formal support channels that you have for information about
the status of the issue.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
