Project Summary: Can I omit final phase?

S

Spinner

I wish to have a Post Implementation phase in my project plan but I do not
want to include the elapsed time of this phase in the Project Summary bar. I
am using Project 2003. Any ideas?

Hi Spinner,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

No, this is not possible. I suggest you create a new project to cover the
Post Implementation phase and link it to the final task in the main project.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

But is it possible to create a summary bar of the of the other six phase
summaries?

Hi,

Of course, why not?
Insert this extra task above and indent your 6 phases.

Hi Spinner,

I'm not sure what you're after. Any project can show the Project Summary
via Tools/Options.../View tab - at the bottom right. The project summary
measures the working time duration between the start of the first task in
the project to the end of the last task. Equally, all other summaries
measure from the start of its first task the end of its last task. What you
could do is to insert a new task just under the project summary task and
indent all but the last phase, which will give you a summary of the first 6
phases.

Thanks Mike. In retrospect, a glaringly obvious solution. Forgive me, I
have only been using the product for a month.

You're welcome, Spinner, nothing to forgive as we all have to start
somewhere :)
