Project Summary Form in Project2000

Is it possible to set up a custom form that can be used to collect Project
Summary info and for that information to be stored away in the .MSP file
seperately from the Task/Resource/Assigment data?

Obviously this would be easy to set up in a Project server environement but
we don't have that.

Peter,
Well, the Project Summary Task contains that information for every file
although it may not always be displayed (tools/Options/View tab). So,
I'm not sure just what "form" you want for that data or even what "that"
data is.

All of Project's data is stored in a common database whether or not the
user specifically saves a .dbm file. The Objects of that database are
separately segregated into Task, Resource, or Assignment data. The only
"separate" file for Project is the Global which of course stores global
settings. I guess you can always create a separate small project file
that simply has a task with the Project Summary Task information from
one or more other Project files but I'm not sure what that would buy you.

John, the data would be the kind of information you would find in a typical
"project dashboard" eg:-

1) Subjective RAG statuses for Cost, Time, Benefit etc
2) Project Manager's summary
3) Key Risks, issues, dependencies etc
4) Current Lifecycle stage; Next lifeccyle stage.
5) Name of Sponsor, Business Programme it belongs to etc.
etc

Obviously Project provides for detailed task/milestone element data but not
Project summary info.

Peter,
The things you describe look like they are out of Project Server, which
you mentioned in your original post. Project 2000 does not have that
functionality built-in although customized data could be created with a
VBA macro or SQL queries. It all depends on how much effort you want to
invest versus upgrading to Server.
