Project Workspace Permissions

I am having a recurring problem. I set permissions on a project workspace to
have the PM with full control so they may add users and set permissions on
their workspace. What I am seeing is that these settings are changing -
apparently on their own. For instance - one PM may have the perms required,
and the next day he himself is getting access denied and when the admin
checks, this user is not even listed as a user on the permissions page to
that workspace. What the heck is going on here? Have you seen this before?

Permissions are refreshed whenever the project is published, so any
permissions applied manually will be lost. The easiest approach is to
provide access to the project site through permissions to the project in PWA.

Hey there ,

There is a functionality oin the server settings page that you could
also turn off so that the permissions are not syncronised
automatically. I think it is under the workspace provisioning settings.

Thanks, this helps. I will try it in test.

Dots,

You have couple of options to do this.

Option 1: As ProjmanZA said, turn off the syncronization settings, so
addtional permissions will not be lost on workspace.

Also remember, it may be impact the new users. When you are are adding
new users on PWA, you may not see them on workspace.

Option 2: Create new custom group on workspace called "Full Control
Users" and add the required users to that group. Syncronization will
not effect on custom groups and permissions will be retained all the
time. You no need to turn off syncronization on this option.

Thanks

THanks, Chak, I like this option MUCH better. I was concerned about the new
user impact. I will try your option2. Thanks again!

Hello Chak, I am having this same issue and I also like your suggestion. My only question is, do I create this group on the site itself, and what is actually causing the permissions to disappear in the first place?
