Protect Document

Jill

I am trying to help someone protect a document they are
working on from having changes made to it. However, they
still want the hyperlinks to work when the document has
been protected. Is there a way to proctect a document from
changes and but still be able to click on the hyperlinks
and have them work.

Please help!
Thanks

It sounds as if you are protecting the document for forms. Although there is
a way to get hyperlinks to work in a protected form (see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/HLinksInForms.htm), you should be
aware that forms protection is very easily defeated. All you have to do is
insert the document into a fresh document (using Insert | File), and the
protection is removed. If you want better protection, you can use "Password
to modify" (but this won't keep users from making a copy) or convert to PDF.
