Protect Document

I am using Word 2002 SP3 and I am unable to use the protect/unprotect option
from the Tool's. Can you tell me what I need to do to get this feature to
work?

Is your selection in a textbox (not field) or a graphic. This might
interefere. The easiest way to protect a document for forms is using the
Forms toolbar. Click on the padlock button. What you are talking about is
what Word calls an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online
forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,

Can you describe the type of document you have and the exact step you are
taking to try to protect the document.
