Protect section of document

Some advise on how to achieve the following would be appreciated please.

Using Access 2002 and Word 2002 we are using vba code to automate a merge
between access to a word.

On the access fields are bookmarked in the word doc & merge is working fine.

The concern is that a user would open the word document and delete or edit
the bookmarks

What is the best way to protect the document

TIA

There is no foolproof way. What I would suggest is that the Word document is
saved as a template, and that your merge creates a new document based on the
template.

Then if the user opens the document, he is likely instead to create a new
document based on the template, and so leave the template untouched.
