Protected Site, User id's/psswd

Hey there,

About a week ago i posted a message here asking for help
on how to track users visiting my page...

Here's what i dont get...

You do can protect a webpage and limit its use, which you
can access with a password, right...
how is it posible that you can restrict the entrace to
the site but you are not able to see who's entering to it
when you have users with id/pswd?

I want to protect my site, so just my customers have
access to it (every customer would have a id and
password) but i want to be able to see which customer
entered the site... like a daily report or whatever. My
hosting service do not provide this kind of service, even
tho they generate reports of the IP address... which is
usless for me, i need to know which USER is accesing the
site. (not on-the-fly but a daily report)

The guy building our site told me that i need like a CGI
script, which will cost about 150 US and to get the
reports i'd need to pay an extra 65 US fee, that would
give me a daily report via email on users accesing the
site.

Is there another way to do this?
Should we just get a different hosting co.? do you know
which one will provide this service?

Thank you guys

Sorry, but I thought I replied to this.
If you are hosting on an ASP capable server (IIS), you could
use an ASP based security system. I have my protected pages
done with it. Not too hard, but you will need to work with
the html coding. I use an Access database to authenticate
my users, who are all listed in a table. This functionality
could be added onto by creating another table in that
database, and as someone enters in their information to
validate them, you could write that information into the
second table along with a timestamp. Then to see who logs
in when, you could just create a database results page to
show the results. It is something I have thought of doing,
but haven't found the time to do it.

Is your host running the FP 2002 SE and are you using FP 2002
- if so it has a built in usage analysis
