Protected Subweb and Log in Form

I have a protected subweb set up in my main web. I am
haveing trouble with people being able to log into this
protected web because they are not seeing the the
microsoft pop up box or not using it properly. I am
working on a fix for my link to the subweb to first go to
a page with a form and the username and password fields
on it. I want to use the Usernames I have set up in the
server but am not sure how to do this. Any ideas?
