Protecting a part of table

Hi

Is there a way of protecting a part of a table? That
means you protect the first column of two column table and
leave the second column editable.

Please help me.

Thanks.

Hi, Thomas,

Word 2003 is the first version in which you can protect arbitrary
portions of a document.

In any earlier version, the only way you can do this is to put a text
form field in each cell that should be editable, and then "protect for
forms" the whole document or at least the section that contains the
table. Editing will be limited to the form fields.

The difficulty with protected documents is that a number of features
are disabled, even in the unprotected sections. For a possible
workaround, see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm.
