Protecting Document

I have a document that is populated via mailmerge. I want to protect the
entire document except for 1 or two lines that would allow someone to type in
a small amount of text. I can't figure out how to do this? How can I
unprotect a small area and leave the rest unprotected?

Mail merge and forms protection are basically incompatible. You'd have to apply
the forms protection after the mail merge has completed.
