Proxy authentication problems

My company internet proxy is continually locked out as Groove either does not
recognise the password has changed or hits the proxy too many times before
requesting a new password in the proxy authentication dialog box. This only
seems to have happened since I applied the latest build (3.1a 2374). Is there
any way to manually set the proxy or set the number or retries. Our proxy
locks out after 3 attempts.

Groove uses proxy setting in IE or Netscape. When internet Explorer and
Netscape Browsers are both configured(with the same or different proxies),
Groove always uses the Internet Explorer Browser proxy setting even if
Netscape is the “default†browser.

If Netcape is the only Browser configured for a proxy, Groove uses the
Netscape Browser proxy setting.

If Netscape and IE are both configured with proxy settings, but the proxy
listed for Internet Explorer is resolable but not accessible, Groove will
switch over to using the proxy configured in Netscape.

If a proxy is configured within IE, and the name of this proxy does not
resolve successfully, Groove will fail to connect to the proxy.

Base on above principles, we can check/change IE or Netscape settings about
proxy on our computer. We can check IE settings by: Open Internet Explorer,
Tools-> Internet Options, in company environment; it usually connects to
internet via LAN in a company. So we can click LAN Settings on Connection
tab, check if it is using configuration script or set proxy server and we can
manually set up proxy server here. The same method can be used on checking
dial-up connection proxy setting.
[Note: If we are using ISA server, and installed ISA server client. Check
“Automatically detect settings†option in IE will configure proxy server
setting automatically.]

Understand the reply but this does not answer the question. We use a
proxy.pac file to tell our users which proxy to use depending on where your
are going. That is, we have unauthenticated access for certain approved sites
and everything esle has to be authenticated. Part of the issue is that this
authentication is not currently linked into our AD infrastructure, so we have
an effectively separate id and pwd for authentication even though the id is
the same as their AD id. What seems to happen is that Groove passes the old
credentials to the basic auth request. Groove recognises that the credentials
are no longer valid, which then triggers Groove to pop up the authentication
dialog box, but in the mean time Groove has tried other protocols and this
then has triggered the lock out by trying 2 other protocols.

Any further ideas?

Mark.
