PS2007 - Restore Enterprise Settings to new server environment

T

TroyS

I'm working a test environment and configuring stuff in PWA.
I want to move/copy the same settings (Views, Enteprise Fields, Lookup
tables, Calendars, etc) to a new environment.

How to do?

In PS2003, we could save a copy of the Enterprise Global file (mpt) and
restore it to a new environment (though that would not give you the Views and
other stuff).
Is there something similar in PS2007?

thanks for any insight....

Hi Troy,

Out of the box this is not possible. Custom code or physically redepoying
the Project Server Databases from Test server to the deployment server.

I believe a company in Australia has written a custom tool to do this.

Thats right we actually have written an internal tool which allows us to move
the custom fields and lookup tables. unfortunatly it has proofen to be very
difficult to move views and at this stage we dont have included this in our
tool.

I should also point out that this is not a comercial product more an
internal tool for our consultants to move settings quickly from one to
another environment.

Troy,

You can backup and restore databases from one environement to another. This
will move all the configuration you have done in test environment. Note: All
the data in your another environment will be overwritten incluing projects
and resources.
