Publisher 2000 Huge file

I have been doing a monthly 8 page bulletin for about 2 years. Each
time I save the last months bulletin to a new file and edit the old
file into this months bulletin.

I just discovered that my file has grown to about 12 Mb and there
are only 2 little 25kb pictures plus text on 8 pages total in the
file. How can I get rid of all the extraneous stuff???
Any thoughts - Thanks

Thanks - I was afraid of something like that!

Correct, it is a major bug that was not fixed.
When you delete a picture file, the file remains within the
Publisher file even though the picture is not viewable.

Save all the text and make a new file.
Consider upgrading to a proper DTP program with PDF all built in

Thanks Mary, for the ref to the MS KB - I will check it out.

One more question - if I open the big file with Publisher 2002, will
it shrink it when saved in the 2002 format?

Some things you might want to consider, generally you should have no problems. Norton
might balk...
Large Publisher 2000 publication opens slowly in Publisher 2002 or 2003

PUB2002: AutoShapes Are Converted to Picture Objects When You Save As Earlier Version

When You Add WordArt Objects Publisher 2002 Slows Down and Appears Unresponsive
