Publisher 2003 Huge file size

S

Scott

Created a web page using Publisher 2003.
19 total pages with pictures, some as big as 2mb.
Total file size has ballooned to 650 mb. All pictures reduced to 96kb.
Action only reduced file size by 17 mb.
Systematically copied the file and deleted a page at a time--final result
was a file with NO pages, but was 625 MB--
Any clues why a Publisher 2003 file would do this?
I read about publisher 2000 and 2002 problems but ohter posts claim this is
corrected in 2003. File is essentially unworkable and months of work has
been wasted.

Scott,
You have spent months working on a Desktop Publishing program for the Web?
In my cabinet making business, I always harped on the need to use the right
tool. That need does not diminish when creating on your computer. I suggest
you get a Web editing program. Free: http://www.nvu.com/index.php You may
still be able to buy Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 which has been
discontinued in favor of the new Microsoft Expression Web

I answered your question in the web group, and was talking to Charles, not
you. We have an ongoing "debate" about whether one should ever use Publisher
to produce a website.

Scott,

You are the one who tried to insert images as large as 2 megs into a web
page, you got responses that told you a better way to do things, then
you post the crap you did?

Since you apparently like the advice anyone in an MS NG offers, I'll
give you a site that might help: www.helenwaite.com

It's sometimes a busy site, but if you go to helenwaite, you will get
the answer you need.
