how to reduce the size of a publisher file

After deleting several pages inside publisher document, the size of the file
did not change?? How can I reduce/clean the size of a file to make it
smaller? Thank you.

Do a Design Check. Have you added anything to the Design Gallery? If you have,
delete the object.

No, nothing was added to the Design Gallery as far as I can see. But I guess
I have to say that this document has a lot of imported clipart images of IT
equipment (no pictures though). This is a floor plan of a new 7-story
hospital buiding, and each floor depicts computers, printers, faxes, etc.
The reason I wanted to split the document was that the file size increased
to about 120 MB and it became very hard to make any changes to the file
without crashing it every second time (the file is stored on the network
about 10 directories down, if it matters). I tried to copy file to my desktop
first, make the changes I need, and then copy back to the network. But even
when I open the file from my desktop, it is still very slow (I use Dell D620
laptop with 1.5GB of RAM). Thank you very much for your help.

The desktop support told me Yes. But my question is why the size of the
publication did not change after deleting a half of the pages?? 6 out of 12..
